Media Relations Consultant, Indonesia

With deep expertise in policy and finance, Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) works with governments, development banks, and investors around the world to drive economic growth while addressing climate change. CPI has offices in Brazil, Europe, India, Indonesia, Kenya, and the United States. In Indonesia, CPI partners with government, development finance institutions, and investors to improve fiscal policy and introduce new solutions to drive sustainable development.

POSITION SUMMARY
CPI is seeking a media relations consultant or firm to support launch and outreach for our work in Indonesia. The successful candidate or firm will have a strong track record of placing news articles and opinion pieces in Indonesian and international media, as well as the ability to understand technical content and translate it for media.

We are seeking to engage a consultant or firm on a project-by-project basis, with a first launch and outreach in early August around work relevant to the district and government of Berau, with additional projects relevant to national government and stakeholders to follow.

Responsibilities per project to include:
• Developing a media relations strategy for publication launch including target outlets and coordinating execution of this strategy with CPI analysts based in Jakarta, as well as communications and leadership staff based in Delhi and the United States
• Drafting and placing an op-ed
• Contacting journalists or editors and placing stories
• Training CPI staff for media interviews

We anticipate 20-40 hours will be required for such work. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesian required, fluency in English highly desired. Experience and contacts at mainstream and business newspapers highly desired.
