Senior Analyst

Joana Chiavari joins CPI from the International Energy Agency (IEA), where she served for three years as an Energy Analyst, focusing on policy approaches to accelerate the uptake of clean energy technologies and the rate of low carbon innovation. Previously, Joana worked on climate and energy policy issues at the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) as a Policy Analyst and, before that, as a Researcher at the Climate Change Policy and Modelling Unit of the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM). She has also collaborated with the Interdisciplinary Center for the Environment (NIMA-JUR) of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) on various projects in the field of environmental legislation, and she has been a lecturer at the LLM program of Environmental Law of PUC-Rio since 2005. International environmental lawyer and political scientist by training, Joana holds a PhD in Analysis and Governance of Sustainable Development from the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice and a Masters Degree in Environmental Management from the University Sant’ Anna of Pisa.
