Principal, Energy Finance
Michael Hulme joined as Principal at CPI Energy Finance in September 2019, heading up CPI Energy Finance’s growing equity market and corporate climate transition team. Michael Hulme graduated from Cambridge University with First Class honours in History. He started his career as an equities analyst at Foreign and Colonial in London, before becoming a Fund Manager at Societe Generale in 2000 running portfolios investing in Russia and Eastern European equities. After a career break founding a coffee shop chain in Hungary, he joined MFS International (a large US based fund management firm) with responsibility for the global energy sector. He ran MFS’s Global Energy Portfolio and led the global energy sector team, a group comprising analysts in Boston, London, and Singapore. Subsequently he joined Lombard Odier Investment Management where he founded and ran the Lombard Odier Global Energy fund as well as managing an energy market neutral hedge fund strategy for the bank. Latterly in 2014 he joined Carmignac as Head of Commodities, to run the Carmignac Commodities fund which invested in companies across the global energy and resources sector.
