Monika Chakraborty is a Consultant at CPI’s Delhi office, where she works on mobilizing sustainable finance for methane abatement. Her current project focuses on developing tools and frameworks to help stakeholders design and implement 1.5°C transition plans, that frontload methane reduction.

Before joining CPI, Monika accumulated over five years of experience as a climate change specialist. She holds a Master of Science in Climate Science and Policy from The Energy Resources Institute – SAS, Delhi. With a strong background in GHG accounting and Inventorisation, methane emissions, policy analysis, and climate action planning, she has been instrumental in formulating comprehensive climate action plans at the sub-national level, aligning strategies to address GHG emissions and promote sustainable development. She has also worked on mitigating short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) in India where she focused on estimating methane emissions and providing targeted recommendations for methane abatement. Monika also played a key role in developing the GHG Platform India, phase IV portal, which is designed to enhance the reporting and monitoring of GHG emissions.

Beyond her professional work, Monika is a passionate Kathak dancer, an avocational cook who loves to explore and experiment. Additionally, Monika is an avid reader, often immersing herself in diverse genres that inspire her personal growth and broaden her perspectives.
