Join our team to support initiatives aimed at bolstering climate and nature impact technical assistance for agri-food small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). This role encompasses mapping potential technical assistance partners, facilitating investment efforts, and contributing to knowledge products on climate finance for agriculture and food systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Assistance Mapping and Analysis:
- Carbon Offset Expertise: Identify organizations specializing in carbon offset projects aligned with agri-food operations.
- Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Services: Map institutions in key countries offering MRV services to support SMEs in tracking and reporting their environmental impact.
- Research Institutions: Identify organizations capable of providing evidence-based research, soil sampling, and data to improve climate and nature impact methodologies.
- Data and Tools Providers: Identify organizations offering data or tools that can enhance SME services, particularly for monitoring ecosystem resilience, biodiversity, and climate mitigation potential.
- Grant Funders: Compile a list of potential grant funders supporting climate and nature-focused agri-food initiatives, such as sustainable fertilizers and agroforestry.
- Investment Facilitation Support:
- Investor Mapping: Identify and map organizations investing in impact within SSA and LAC regions, focusing on those relevant to climate and agri-food enterprises. Develop a clear labeling system to categorize investors by their sectoral focus.
- Knowledge Product Development:
- Data Analysis and Research: Contribute to data analysis and research tasks to shape solutions that support farmers’ access to finance.
- Report Development: Assist in the creation of two reports:
- Financial Support Recommendations: Leverage in-house experience to develop implementable recommendations for financial support in agri-food systems.
- Impact Investor Approaches: Examine impact investors and their strategies in agri-food finance.
Deliverables:
- A comprehensive database or report summarizing findings from the mapping of technical assistance partners, grant funders, and investors.
- Analysis on how the Connector team can facilitate the ecosystem effectively based on mapping exercises
- Contributions to knowledge products, including data analysis, research summaries, and draft sections of reports.
Qualifications:
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Interest in climate finance, sustainable agriculture, and impact investing.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

We are looking to take an interns based in the UK to be available up to 3 months. Based on our workload we are looking either for 3 months part time (24 hours per week 3 days per week) or 2– 3-month full time.
We favour applicants who are available for at least the months though we offer some flexibility both in length and start dates.
