Charith Konda represented CPI at the – Decarbonization of Indian Railways-Mission Electrification – conference held in New Delhi in November 2016. The conference was organized by the Ministry of Railways through Institution of Railways Electrical Engineer (IREE) in partnership with ASSOCHAM India with the objective of bringing various stakeholders on a common platform for exchange of ideas and to deliberate on implementable technological solutions and financing options to significantly increase pace of electrification and use of renewable energy.

Charith presented the findings from the first phase of the Decarbonization of Indian Railways study in the Strategy Session of the conference. Other participants in the conference included Minister of Railways, Dr. Suresh Prabhu; heads of the departments at IR; suppliers/vendors of IR including L&T, Alstom, GE Energy, Siemens, and Sterlite; consultants including USAID, UNDP, and EVI.

The audience included Indian Railways employees, suppliers of Indian Railways, lenders of IR, international and domestic research organizations/consultants, and news media.
