More than ever, there is a need for a systemic shift in the way the world considers risks and leverages risk management tools and instruments to support greater resilience in a systemic way. There is an obvious need for a deeper convergence between global discourse on climate and development finance and the role of insurance.
Insuring Systemic Resilience: Mobilising public-private insurance actions to deliver pandemic and climate resilience will capture critical insights from leading voices drawn from governments, global multilateral development bank and private sector (global insurer and reinsurer), aimed at:
- Understanding the depth of the impact of the triple crises (COVID-19, the economic downturn
and climate change) on governments, private sector and the development finance community
and how this has informed current response strategies; - Reflections on current response effort and the convergence with medium to longer term
financing and recovery effort and considering the role of risk transfer and insurance; and - Discussion on emerging or existing solutions with significant impact potential and existing
challenges and opportunities to scale.
