The Institute’s Finance & Sustainability workshop aims to stimulate debate and to lay the groundwork for an expansive research agenda that holds the potential to substantially refocus disciplines ranging from geography to economics to environmental policy.

As a leading participant,  Dr. Buchner’s talk is titled, “Towards a Sustainable Future: The Role of Financial Innovation.”

The primary focus will be on the Paris Agreement’s implementation; concerning the availability of the right policies and financial vehicles to unlock the necessary capital flows. Financial innovation is key in scaling up investments globally, and experiences from the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance demonstrate concrete examples of innovative financial solutions that resolve financing barriers hindering alternative energy, adaptation, and land use projects in different geographies – and can help to move from talk to action quickly.
