At the upcoming annual Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) meeting, Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) will showcase its work with local partners in Indonesia to develop sustainable palm oil supply chains through a production and protection strategy. This application of a production and protection strategy to oil palm has grown out of CPI analysis in Brazil which clearly demonstrates that economic growth can be achieved by redistributing land to the highest-value use across sectors and increasing productivity within land use sectors, while at the same time increasing protection of valuable natural resources.
RSPO was established in 2004 to promote the production and use of sustainable palm oil, and is a key international forum supporting business to implement their sustainability commitments by supporting development and certification of sustainable oil palm supply chains.
