Padraig Oliver, Senior Analyst at Climate Policy Initiative will present his latest analysis at this workshop: Green Bonds for Cities: A Strategic Guide for City-level Policymakers in Developing Countries.
The roundtable will provide an opportunity to discuss and explore green bonds as a tool for local governments to meet infrastructure and climate investment needs.
Presentations from climate finance experts will be followed by a discussion to identify key hurdles and opportunities to unlock green bond issuance
within Indian municipalities.
Globally, green bonds have emerged as a form of proactive sustainable investing for investors. Access to low-cost capital at scale is critical for cities to realize low-carbon infrastructure and climate-resilient growth. The green bonds market and its deep pool of investors can offer local governments access to this low-cost capital.
The event, sponsored by Climate-KIC, is delivered by Climate Bonds Initiative, South Pole Group, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and Climate Policy Initiative, in association with IDFC Bank and FICCI.
