The Center for High Impact Philanthropy (CHIP) has named the Lab, and Climate Policy Initiative in its role as the Lab Secretariat, as one of the “Top 11 Best Bets” out of 1,904 proposals submitted to the MacArthur Foundation’s 100&Change competition.
CHIP has a singular focus on how philanthropy can achieve greater social impact, and regularly analyzes opportunities in a wide range of causes. For this work, they analyzed the applications to understand the social impact goal and considered the problem the organization was trying to solve, who would be impacted by the solution, and how their lives would improve. They identified the Lab as one of 11 projects that demonstrate the greatest potential for impact.
100&Change is a MacArthur Foundation competition for a $100 million grant to fund a single proposal that promises real and measurable progress in solving a critical problem of our time. The MacArthur Foundation selected the Lab for its shortlist of the top 200 out of 1,904 proposals, which was used as the basis for CHIP’s analysis.
“The 2015 G7 leaders endorsed the Lab as a promising initiative for accelerating access to renewable energy, mobilizing financial resources, and improving the lives of people around the world. By collaborating with governments and leading financial institutions, CPI’s Lab provides an example of how philanthropic capital can engage private investment and government support to affect global environmental change.” – Excerpt from CHIP’s guide to the Top 11 Best Bets
