Agriculture Portfolio
CPI/PUC-Rio has a research agenda dedicated to the study of Brazilian agriculture, in order to contribute to the formulation of better practices and policies in the country. This agenda first started with reflections on how to increase productivity without inducing new deforestation. CPI developed a production and protection strategic framework that analyzes the relationship between land use, economics, and socioeconomic factors. The research shows that it is possible and urgent to align economic development with environmental protection. CPI/PUC-Rio has recently started developing studies on the just rural transition.
