Karla is a Senior Analyst at CPI, based in Washington, D.C. She currently supports the FiCS Lab and the International Financial Architecture Reform Workstream. Her work focuses on effectively directing current and additional climate finance toward emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs).

Prior to joining CPI, Karla conducted research on blended finance solutions for the energy transition in Colombia and Brazil for the Inter-American Development Bank. She also served as a research assistant at Columbia University, co-authoring papers on financing global public goods and international financial architecture reform. Karla’s previous experience includes an internship at the World Bank’s Poverty and Equity Latin American practice. She also worked at the Mexican Ministry of Finance, where she coordinated G20 finance track negotiations.

Karla holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), specializing in International Finance and Economic Policy, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
