October 16, 2023: Climate Policy Initiative India (CPI India) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) for developing and disseminating knowledge on green and sustainable finance to policymakers, regulators, and industry players. CPI India is an analysis and advisory organization dedicated to driving economic growth while addressing climate change.
Dr Dhruba Purkayastha, Director, CPI India said, “We are happy to partner with India’s premier management institute, supported by a high calibre faculty pool and strong research credentials, to further green and sustainable finance initiatives. We suggest a joint forward-looking research agenda to review and transfer best practices to increase sustainable finance and manage climate risk.”
CPI India and IIMA will jointly conduct research and analysis to generate research outputs applicable in the sustainable and green finance space. Through this association, IIMA and CPI India will also jointly conduct capacity-building program on green and sustainable finance, design sustainable financial policies and regulations, undertake climate risk assessments, and other possible joint efforts.
At the signing ceremony, Professor Amit Garg, Professor of Public Systems Group, IIMA said, “We are happy to associate with CPI India’s Center for Sustainable Finance to further our research agenda on sustainable finance theory and practice, and curate capacity-building program for executives in the financial ecosystem and to educate them about best practices in the green and sustainable finance space, while managing climate risks.”
