San Francisco — The MacArthur Foundation today unveiled The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (the Lab) as one of the top 100 highest-scoring proposals in its second 100&Change competition for a single $100 million grant to help solve the world’s most critical social challenges. This is the second time MacArthur has included the Lab as one of the top 100 ideas that could create significant and durable change on a global scale.

Established in 2014, the Lab identifies, develops, and launches transformative and sustainable financial solutions and businesses. In five years, the Lab has demonstrated success by launching 41 initiatives that have mobilized more than $2 billion in sustainable investment. The Lab applied for a 100&Change grant to rapidly scale this proven approach to more regions and sectors.

The 100&Change Top 100 represent 20% of competition submissions. Proposals were rigorously vetted by MacArthur’s technical review specialists as well as a global panel of external experts to ensure each solution was impactful, evidence-based, feasible, and durable.

MacArthur’s Board of Directors will now select up to 10 finalists from the top 100 this spring. All Top 100 finalists will also become part of MacArthur’s newly-launched Bold Solutions Network. Organizations that are part of the Bold Solutions Network will have continued access to a variety of technical support and investment opportunities focused on increasing the impact of their work.
