About the role

CPI is seeking a HR Intern to provide HR support to our growing US team based across San Francisco and Washington D.C. Reporting directly to the HR Generalist (US), this role will assist with key HR functions, including maintaining HR systems, supporting recruitment efforts, and enhancing the onboarding experience for new hires. 

In this role, you will help organize and optimize internal HR resources, including SharePoint and HR documents, to ensure accessibility and compliance. You will also assist with onboarding, recruitment support, and HR administrative tasks, such as coordinating interviews, tracking applicant progress, facilitating background checks, updating policies, and researching best practices for process improvement. 

This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills who can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. 

Roles and responsibilities

HR Systems & SharePoint Management 

  • Assist in cleaning, organizing, and optimizing internal and external HR SharePoint pages to ensure accessibility, compliance, and up-to-date information. 
  • Handle sensitive HR documents and materials with confidentiality and discretion. 
  • Work closely with HR leadership to structure and maintain a user-friendly SharePoint experience. 

Onboarding & Learning & Development Support 

  • Assist in streamlining and optimizing the onboarding process to improve the experience for new hires and ensure efficiency. 
  • Help create and transfer onboarding training materials for full-time staff into our learning management system, Eloomi
  • Ensure onboarding content is structured effectively and aligns with company policies and culture. 
  • Support the documentation and tracking of training completions. 

Recruitment Support 

  • Assist with scheduling interviews, coordinating with hiring managers, and ensuring timely communication with candidates. 
  • Support recruitment administration, including job postings, applicant tracking system (ATS) updates, and candidate follow-ups. 
  • Help facilitate background checks and pre-employment screenings to ensure compliance with hiring policies. 
  • Maintain accurate candidate records and support the hiring process from sourcing to offer. 

HR Administrative & Operational Support 

  • Assist with various HR administrative tasks, including data entry, document organization, and process improvements. 
  • Conduct research on best practices for HR process optimization. 
  • Support HR projects related to employee engagement, DEIB initiatives, and policy updates. 

About you

  • Previous experience in a non-profit will be advantageous 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite is required; 
  • You enjoy working with others and building team culture 
  • You are self-motivated with a passion for learning 
  • You are calm under pressure and professional at all times 
  • You are flexible and willing to jump into tasks as needed 
  • You are detail oriented while being aware of the big picture 
  • You are flexible with working across multiple time zones when required 
  • Previous experience with BambooHR or similar HRIS platforms will be advantageous 

Position Details

CPI is recruiting for one full time position (40 hours) to be based in our San Francisco or Washington DC office.  

The salary range for this position is $23/hour.

CPI has adopted hybrid working whereby staff work 20-40% on site. Although the nature of this role means some elements will be best fulfilled when on-site so regular office attendance will be required from this role. 

This contract is for 5months with possibility of extension.
